Just as I thought, Kamal snored all the way across the Oregon border and didn’t open his eyes until we got to Grants Pass. I couldn’t help but laugh as I watched him wipe the drool from his mouth.

“Damn, how long was I knocked out?” Kamal yawned and heaved my body into a hold.

“You were asleep for about 5 ½ hours baby,” I giggled as I wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth with the back of my hand. “How are you feeling?”

“Mmmmm, I feel good baby,” he whispered as he held me tighter. “I’m hungry though and I need to piss, damn.”

Kamal grabbed between his legs and sat straight up. “Hey Marvin, can you stop at the next restaurant?”

“Yeah, there’s one right up here on the left.” The driver acknowledged as he got in the turning lane then veered into the rocky lot.

We both got out and rushed to the lavatory. When I came out, Kamal was standing at the counter ordering us some food to go.

“You didn’t want to eat here did you?” He asked frowning up at the old fashioned establishment. “I was just going to get us a couple of burgers and some fries and keep it pushing. I really want to make it to Portland before that afternoon traffic hits.”

Kamal was right. Traffic in Portland was hectic between three and seven at night. With all the construction they had going on the delays were endless.

While we waited on our food, I looked up the real time traffic on my cell. Right away an alert popped up. “Damn, why now?”

“What’s going on baby?” Kamal asked as he leaned over and viewed my screen.

“Hilary Clinton is in Portland and she’s speaking downtown this afternoon!” I huffed as we collected our bags and headed for the car. “You know the presidential election is coming up real soon.”

We informed Marvin and he told us that he knew another way to go. He said it would take us a little longer to go up the 101, but assured us that it would be a beautiful view up the coast.

It really was. I loved every minute of it…
